How accurate do I need to be when using symbols?
When learning Usui Reiki, it is often taught that saying the sacred name and drawing the symbol should be done flawlessly and without fault. You will often be guided to much learning and repetitive practice of drawing the symbols and of course you will be taught how to say the sacred name correctly.
Although in Love Inspiration’s healing systems we also agree with the concept of drawing the symbols correctly and saying the name correctly wherever possible, we are not as fundamentally strict on being perfect, but rather prefer to highlight the importance of intention. Above all, it is always our intention that is so important when working with symbols and whilst we acknowledge and respect the teachings of the Usui Reiki lineages about symbols, we would never wish for these meticulous practices to provide a barrier to someone’s practice.
For example, through our Ascension Pathways, there are a myriad of new symbols being introduced at each step of the way and sometimes many symbols are required to be worked with in a very short period of time. To learn all of these thoroughly and to ‘study’ each symbol in this case would be difficult and is simply not necessary in the long term.
In these cases, we prefer the approach of each practitioner simply doing their best to draw the symbols as well as they can and to say the sacred name in the most logical and common sense way, in line with the instructions provided. Again, your intention will always set the scene for any healing and when coupled with the divinely guided and highly intelligent nature of these healing energies, there will never be any issues for someone who works with a positive and loving intention.
In addition, in order to help with your symbol practices, all of our ebooks and practitioner manuals always include a clear and accurate image of each symbol being worked with as well as a series of red, numbered arrows to show you how to draw each of the symbols. And, most of our ebooks also contain additional guidance about how to pronounce each of the symbols' sacred names, through a link provided that will take you to a short you-tube video, where you can hear the pronunciation.
