Ingredients:
1/4 cup Calcium Carbonate Powder 3 tbsp Xylitol powder 1/4 cup MCT oil (plus more for thinning if needed) ** Optional: essential oils of choice ** MCT = Medium-Chain Triglycerides Directions: Make sure the xylitol is finely ground and not coarse. Mix all ingredients by hand or with a blender until incorporated. The blender can be a bit hard to clean but with some paper towel for the residue, it should be fine. Store in a glass jar (or re-usable plastic tube) and use as you would regular toothpaste. |
Ingredients: 1/2 cup bentonite clay 3 tbsp. xylitol powder 4 tbsp. coconut oil, warmed to liquid 30 drops trace minerals (Concentrace are a good brand for this) essential oils of your choosing (e.g cinnamon & clove combination or mint perhaps) 3 tbsp. water (possibly more) Directions: Place all dry ingredients in a blender or food processor and pulse until well mixed. In a liquid measuring cup, mix coconut oil, essential oils, trace minerals, and water. Slowly pour the liquids into your food processor while continuing to pulse. Mix until smooth; add more water if necessary to reach desired consistency. Remove homemade toothpaste from your blender or food processor and store in a glass jar with a lid. This should keep well but if it starts to dry out a little over the days and weeks (with air exposure), just add some more water to it and it should be ok. |
Ingredients:
5 parts Calcium powder 2 parts Baking Soda 3 parts Xylitol Powder (not completely necessary, but it keeps it from tasting bitter) 3-5 parts coconut oil to get desired texture Optional ingredients: Essential oils for flavor (mint, cinnamon, and orange are all good), Grapefruit Seed Extract, Myrrh and trace minerals Directions: Mix all powdered ingredients (calcium, Baking Soda, Xylitol) well in a bowl. If you are starting with calcium tablets, powder them in a food processor. If you are starting with capsules, just dump them out into the bowl. Add Coconut Oil one part at a time until you get desired consistency. Add any optional ingredients, including Essential Oils for flavour. Store in small container. To use, either dip clean toothbrush into it, or use Popsicle stick or spoon to put on toothbrush. |
