Multi Purpose Citrus Cleaner

make your own natural citrus cleaner
This recipe is brought to you by lexienaturals.com
Ingredients:
a few orange peels (or any other citrus peels - this makes it smells really nice)
1 tbsp salt (any kind)
vinegar (according to your desired proportion)
distilled water (according to your desired proportion)
5-10 drops Essential oil (optional)

Directions:
Cut all your orange peels - perhaps you can put your orange peels in the freezer as you eat them during the week. Add some salt to the orange peels and let them sit for 20-30 minutes (or longer).  This will pull the oils from the peels and ultimately make your cleaning solution stronger.  You only need enough salt to lightly cover the peels. Fill about 3 - 4 empty glass containers with these salted peels.

Now fill the containers with vinegar and water.  You can choose which proportion you wish from 100% vinegar to 70:30 or even 50:50. The vinegar will add to the cleaning power but it will be more expensive also so this is a personal choice.

Put a tight fitting lid on the jars and let this sit for around 2-3 weeks (the longer it sits the better).  When this is ready, strain the solution and fill a squirt bottle with your natural citrus cleaner. If you are using essential oils you will add them at this time and your good to go.

Additional Notes:
This liquid can be used in lots of different ways around your house e.g in your bathroom, toilet, for furniture, dusting etc. It can also be used as a base for a dishwashing detergent as we will see below.

Citrus Dishwashing Liquid

1/8 cup water 4 drops essential oil scent of choice

optional: a few drops of tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil for its antibacterial properties

** You can exchange the citrus cleanser for 1 tsp vinegar
